Mair is the half-faerie son of the goblin king's sister, a product of rape at the hands of their enemy, the sidhe, and the last person that the goblin horde wants to see sit upon the throne. When the king is killed in battle and all of his sons die squabbling for the crown, Mair finds himself the sole heir to the throne--a position that he neither wants nor is likely to survive. To make matters worse, he is presented with a slave to see to his needs--a mute sidhe soldier captured in battle--and Mair is again reminded of how much he resembles the enemy.
The sidhe, Zakatri, is not as stupid and bloodthirsty as Mair expects, and they strike an uneasy alliance. If Zak can keep Mair alive until the coronation ceremony, Mair will grant the faerie his freedom in return. But will his bitter and vengeful half-goblin heart allow Mair to keep his promise, or will Zak's only reward be a goblin dagger between his ribs?
Forced to share his bed with the bound and naked slave in order to keep up pretenses, Mair suffers a moment of weakness and succumbs to the desires of the flesh, never imagining the consequences of this one thoughtless act.

First, I finished the vampire story, which now needs a title. 'The Vampire Next Door' is cute, but a little to general for my tastes. The story is 18,599 words long, unedited. I may wait a couple of weeks to edit it, as I tend to see the flaws in my work better when I have a little distance from it. I'll probably get started on the sequel soon.
Second, my goblin/faerie story, Slave to the Crown has been accepted by Shadowfire Press. I have been trying to print the contracts since I got the good news, but I had left my printer at home, so I had to go get it. Then, the stupid thing was out of ink (or so I thought) so I had to go home again and get the spare color ink cartridge. It still wouldn't work. I thought the printer was gummed up, so I cleaned it with alcohol and Q-tips. Still nothing. I finally got the cartridge to give a little red ink, so I knew it wasn't the printer. The cartridge was at least a year old (teach me to buy on sale) and the ink wouldn't flow. I tried everything I could think of, and finally, frustrated to the point where I wanted to break things, I sealed my lips around the cartridge and sucked. Needless to say, the ink is flowing now and I can spit in three different colors. >_< The contracts went out in today's mail.
Finally, the GLBT Bookshelf has placed my ebook, Unspoken, in their featured titles section of the GLBT Bookstore. Go check it out! You can find a ton of GLBT and gay books there.

Greetings all! Great news. A short story of mine--Unspoken--which some of you may have read on my LJ (and which is no longer there) has been accepted to be published through Shadowfire Press. Shadowfire Press is a print and e-publisher. Unspoken will be available for electronic download near the end of June and I'll be sure to post links and more info as I get it.

Okay, I just received an email from my publisher concerning the release of Magebound. There are 11 books in line ahead of mine waiting to be proofed and typeset, so it looks like the release will be pushed back to April or May (or June).

Wow, where has the year gone? Happy New Year everyone, and best wishes in 2009!
So, I failed to reach my NaNoWriMo goal, and I failed to reach my December writing goal of 30k words, but I came close on both accounts and I think that's good enough. Every day that I pushed myself to write just a little bit more when I felt like calling it quits is a successful day in my book.
Currently, I'm working on finishing Broken Wings, which is up to almost 87k. I have also completed a short story for an online contest (unofficial contest--Winner! My story won 1st place!) which I have added to my site. I ran out of time and had to cut the end short, but when I have more time I intend to go back and rewrite it like I had planned. It's not bad, but it doesn't take advantage of many of the plot elements I painstakingly set up during the story. I hope you enjoy it anyway: The Goblin King.

GothNoWriMo turned out to be a success, wordcount-wise. I finished October with 33,180 words, even if the story wasn't exactly the definition of Gothic Lit. I decided to continue the story into NaNoWriMo, even though that's technically against the NaNo rules. Oh, well. I'm actually more interested in finishing the book than following some arbitrary rules.
Currently, I stand at 32,152 words for Nano (65,332 total), which is a bit behind, but I'm optimistic that I can catch up. I've decided to post the story, for the time being, at least, on FictionPress. So check it out. Broken Wings.
I will also be in Oakridge, Oregon December 6th and 7th for the annual Sugar Plum Fesitval Holiday Craft Bazaar. Hours are 9 AM - 5 PM Saturday and 10 AM - 3 PM Sunday in the Oakridge Elementary School gym. It's easy to find, really. Just take State Highway 58 to Oakridge and follow the signs. I'd be thrilled to meet you. Next year, I could even sign autographs, since Magebound will be out by then.
Finally, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the US. Try not to eat too much ^_^

Man, that was a busy month!
First of all, I was able to make all the preliminary changes that my publisher suggested I make to Spellwrought, mostly just making it a little more self-contained. Better descriptions of character the first time they appear in the book, a little background on a few that happened previously, some definitions of terms that may not be easily understood--that sort of thing.
Then, I was introduced to my editor. What an awesome person. She went over my manuscript and fixed all my mistakes, which were mainly formatting related. Instead of taking weeks, first-round edits took a matter of days. And she liked the story.
Needless to say, GothNoWriMo isn't going so well. I've written only 2,500 of the 6,000 words I should have by now, but my publishing comes first. I hope to be able to catch up over the next week, but we'll see. I do have an excerpt to share, though it's a bit rough. I guess that's why they call it a rough draft, right? Broken Wings.

Great news! My publisher, PD Publishing, has decided to publish the sequel to Magebound. Information on Spellwrought shall be forthcoming on the Novels page. Look for it in early 2010!
This October, why not stretch your writing wings and give GothNoWriMo a try? All you have to do is write a piece of gothic style literature in October. Not sure what gothic style is? The GothNoWriMo Forum has all the information you need. I'll be there, and I'll be posting the fruits of my labors on my website so be sure to come back and check it out!
As a warm-up for GothNo, I've written a short story featuring one of my all-time favorite characters. If you're looking for a creepy tale, check out The Devil's Hunt in the Free Fiction section.

Thanks for visiting my website. While you're here, be sure to visit the Forum and register for an account. Introduce yourself and start a conversation with fellow readers.
Also, I would like to take this opportunity to promote two wonderful websites that are doing great things for shelter animals. FreeKibble and FreeKibbleKat are easy ways for people to help feed hungry shelter animals. Just visit each site daily and answer a fun trivia question. It doesn't matter if you get the answer right or not--10 pieces of kibble will be donated just for clicking. It only takes a moment and is for a great cause. Plus, the teenage girl who thought of it is from my home state!

Welcome to the grand opening of my website. It's a little light on content right now, but I hope to change that soon. Currently, you can find information on my upcoming novel, Magebound in the Novels section, including the entire first chapter.
Free Fiction will host a variety of my strange little stories, but right now only contains a couple. Check back often for new additions. The Contact link works, if you'd like to ask a question or drop me a line. I try to check my mail every day.
Thanks for visiting my site and don't forget to bookmark it. I'll be updating as often as I can.
